We realise that the very specialist nature of what we make, means that many people can’t afford new dCS products. Our products are designed and built to last a long time, and sometimes units appear for sale second hand on the internet. At dCS we keep the original build records of everything we manufacture, as well as any update, upgrade, or service history attached to any of our products. Our international distributors understand that, and our authorised dealers understand that. We would recommend to anyone considering buying a second hand unit, that they establish first, the credentials of the seller, and the serial number and current software version of any unit they are thinking about spending their money on. Contact us with these details, and we will happily confirm the model, the age, any remaining warranty status, service history, and latest applicable software version for the unit(s) in question. If a seller won’t give you the serial number, then we would suggest that you shouldn’t deal with that person. Our authorised dealers also understand the need for careful packaging of any unit before shipping, and have access to new packaging from the factory if required. Shipping in inadequate packaging or without transit screws voids any remaining warranty. These units are specialist electronics and need to be treated as such. A recent example is of a customer in Europe paying for a Verdi Encore from America, and what was actually delivered was a very old, original model Verdi. The unit was badly packed, with no transit screws, resulting in the almost total write off of the machine. This was not an authorised dCS outlet, and there seems to be little hope of any redress for the buyer.
