Therion Goes Classic - At the Palace Hall/Bucharest/Romania, on December 9th, Therion plays with full symphonic orchestra, choir and international opera stars.
The band will go on stage with nearly 70 musicians of the Academic Radio Choir, 100 instrumentists of the Romanian Radio Orchestra and guest classical singers from Vienna, awarded as best opera-voices world-wide.
Markus Stollenwerk, who joined the famous German band Rage for their “Lingua Mortis” album will be the conductor of this world-premiere event.
The repertoire includes famous classical pieces in Therion’s version, as well as Therion songs with symphonic orchestra, some of them never played live before.
The project is done with kind support of the Swedish Embassy in Romania.
“Therion Goes Classic” concert is part of a project called “Ars musicae, ars medicinae – music against cancer” developed by Aquarius Foundation/Romania; all thanks for the initiative go to Therion. Funds raised following the concert are aimed to the treatment of children with cancer in Romania in 2007. Organisers also thank Wolfgang Milchrahm/Austria for his support.

Precis, Therion är gjord för denna typ av live-spelningar 
De släpper snart en ny skiva, hoppas den håller samma klass som Lemuria/Sirius B, Vovin och alla andra skivor de gjort. |

Räckte det inte med Deep Purples experiment -69? Eller Rick Wakemans pompösa alster på 70-talet?
Det här har utvecklats till en sjukdom som alla band verkar smittas av och måste gå igenom.
Vi får välkomna dom ut på andra sidan.
(Jo, jag gillar en del klassisk musik, men sådant här brukar sällan fungera.) |

@Björn Ola: Om man gillar Nightwish och Rhapsody så borde man även gilla Therion, för de får de två nyss nämna banden att verka simpla och tråkiga, ja rentav som dagispop i ren jämförelse.
Jag kan hålla med om att det har gått lite inflation i det här "symfoniköret" men medans andra försöker kombinera (hård)rock med symfoniorkester så är Therions musik redan gjord för det formatet från böjan, fast i lite mindre skala och ibland (förr) i samplat format.
Det som är lite extra kul med det här och anledningen till våran extas är att Therion normalt låter lite "fattigt" live - utan en riktig orkester. Nu, äntligen får vi se och höra deras mästerliga musik i sitt rätta utförande Live! |
