Simply Jazz Trio Jazz At 3:45
Performing as a trio, quartet, and quintet, Simply Jazz plays ballads, bossas and swing jazz standards in a sophisticated late evening mood
In this, their 3rd CD, Simply Jazz first pares down to a trio (piano, bass, sax) for 4 tunes, adds a drummer for 3 more as a quartet and then rips 3 of the best tunes from their 2nd CD as a quintet with vocalist Zareen. Hence the title: Jazz at 3:45.
These 10 tunes showcase the band’s configurational versatility as they work the Bay Area Jazz scene from posh restaurants to private events in downtown hotels. This is straightahead jazz: always melodic and swinging. If you like your jazz accessible, not ‘free’ and not ‘smooth’, check them out.

Ron Eschete Trio In The Middle
  Jazz Guitar Trio
The Ron Escheté Trio is widely known as the "trio that sounds like a quartet." Ron Escheté and Todd Johnson, who have been playing together since 1991, both have the unique ability to play bass lines and chord changes at the same time, while Kendall Kay, who joined the trio in 2000, is the glue that holds it all together. This CD is the result of a night of "live" recording at Spazio on Oct. 28, 2003. The best tracks were picked and, as it turns out, all the tempos are “in the middle.” The music is hard-swinging, melodic, intuitive, joyful and full of life.
