Cello/piano.Yehuda Hanani Dazzle and Nostalgia
Yehuda Hanani's charismatic playing and profound interpretations have brought him acclaim and reengagements throughout Europe, North and South America, the Orient and his native Israel.
Bach's Cello Suites are "blueprints for cellists of all generations," writes Yehuda Hanani in his introduction to this recording. There are more than 20 editions of them, "all claiming the mantle of truth," but the problems posed by four divergent manuscripts, none by Bach himself, all riddled with inaccuracies, as well as the absence of original bowings, dynamics, and tempo indications, give performers both the liberty and the responsibility "to make their own edition with each performance."

Joyce Valentine Reunion
Beautiful and emotionally charged music featuring piano and cello. Six original songs (composed for the reunion of two friends), six arrangements of well-known tunes, and two classic favorites.
Kathy Parsons had this to say about "Reunion" in her review for Solo Piano Publications:
"Reunion is a stunning album of piano and cello duets. Six of the pieces are originals by composer/pianist Joyce Valentine, and the other eight tracks are her arrangements of folk and classical pieces. Valentine and cellist Debbie Brooks became friends when both were students at the University of North Texas, and played piano and cello repertoire for hours at a time. Both artists have very extensive and impressive classical backgrounds, and this recording would have to be classified as contemporary classical - if it needs to be classified at all. The duet playing is seamless, and neither artist commands the spotlight. They play like the kindred spirits they have become from a long term friendship and from knowing each other intimately as musicians. The CD opens with a graceful waltz called "Our Song", one of my favorite tracks. Both beautifully flowing and upbeat, this is a warm and elegant way to start this exceptional collection. "Reunion", the title song, was composed for a concert Valentine and Brooks performed in 1999, and celebrates their friendship with fluid lines that intertwine the two instruments and the souls of the two artists.
