Chris Colangelo 2 Trios + 1 Live
Modern straight-ahead small group jazz
Bassist CHRIS COLANGELO is one of the genuine masters on his instrument. The first thing you notice about Chris's playing -- his tone, deeply resonant with astonishing articulation across the instrument's sonic register. Once you adjust to such reverberant force, you recognize that this is a musician with serious chops ... that hard to define, never forgotten lyric quality that separates yeoman time-keepers from bassists with seductive narrative power.
Born in Camden, New Jersey, Chris attended Rowan University, majoring in jazz performance. Then a resident of the Philadelphia area, Chris was part of the local jazz scene, with session work throughout the Delaware Valley, including gigs in Atlantic City. After moving to Los Angeles in late '91, Chris began performing and traveling with heavyweights such as the Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra, Yusef Lateef, Jimmy Cleveland, Alex Acuna, Roy McCurdy, Doc Severinsen, Ernie Watts, Kei Akagi, Les McCann, Richie Cole, and Sal Marquez among many others.

Tim Collins Quartet Live In Concert
Vibes player Tim Collins leads a quartet with great original jazz from the straight-ahead tradition, but also using elements of latin, funk, and rock
Tim Collins Vibraphonist
A native of Plattsburgh, NY, 25 year old percussionist Tim Collins has been involved with music since before he can remember. As a young toddler, he would sit for hours on end listening to records and "watching them go," as he would put it. He would walk around singing melodies and rhythms, and often would get into trouble by banging on pots and pans. This interest did not go unnoticed by his parents, as they signed him up for piano lessons at the ripe old age of 6. Around this same time, the young Timothy also received a toy drum set for Christmas. Since that time, his musical journeys on both piano and drums have been melded together on an instrument that employs the skills of both: the vibraphone. Along the way, he has also achieved a truly remarkable level of versatility on all percussion instruments.
