Hacke Bjorksten with Jazz Unit and Sara Hoglind Blue Cat
Modern Jazz blended with beautfiul ballads, folk inspired melody lines
Hacke Bjorksten with Jazz Unit and Vocalist Sara Hoglind Imported from Sweden by Listening-Post Music
If you say the name "Gunnar Bjorksten" no one will know whom you're talking about. But if you say "Hacke Bjorksten" you will put a smile on people's faces who know jazz, because he has become Hacke with jazz people all over the world.
Over the years many of us have danced to his-always-great sounding orchestra. Hacke is a living legend, however, he is NOT some old relic gone half asleep. No, he is still very much a working inspiring musician and composer, with more energy in his musicianship than ever before. He is still the positive, engaging and competent musician that, with the help of his spirited persona, always manages to make audiences feel welcome and as though they are actually included in his performances. This, whether its a concert with a jazz group in the 21st century Blekinge(a region in Sweden), a solo performance in Carnegie Hall, New York or an album like the one you're hopefully going to buy! Hacke has played just about everywhere and with a group of international stars such as Stan Getz, Harry "Sweets" Edison, Lee Konitz, to name just a few.

Jamie Catto, Duncan Bridgeman, Maxi Jazz, Dave Randall & More! The Happening - As Deep As We Can Go Without Drowning
World Fusion
Jamie Catto (of Faithless & 1 Giant Leap) says: “The Happening” was a tithe or a thank you gift to the goddess of music for letting me make a living from music in which I invited all my favorite diverse artists to Dave Stewart’s place (an old church in Crouch End London where we did a lot of Dido’s first album there too including ‘Thank You’). During the 3 day recording session, not one track was played more than once and everything was improvised around ideas in my head. I’d heard about Miles Davis when he made “In a Silent Way”, he just laid down the vibe verbally to the guys, who were so hot they could just go for it. So that’s what we did. One one of my favorite tracks is ‘Chances Are’ where an African xylophone player and DJ Swamp from Beck’s group do a very unique duet, just the kind of thing I wanted to happen.
