Tera Johnson The Other Side
Like a shot of espresso to liven your day, jazz and blues vocalist Tera Johnson is small but mighty. She can carry a crowd on the back of her voice without the need of any additive; her performance offers the perfect amount of cream and sugar. Tera's voice soothes and warms a chilly eve and brings a light breeze across a feverish brow, each lyric and note so distinct and heartfelt.
Having over 10 years of professional performance experience from the intimate coffee shops of Central Illinois to the brightly lit stages of Jazz Festivals in Europe and the United States, Tera Johnson has kept a magical memory of each audience for which she has played. Beginning in a big band at her high school, Tera has received awards throughout the state of Illinois for Best Soloist in such jazz competitions as: Western Illinois University, Eastern Illinois University, Illinois State University, University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, and many others. Tera has also traveled around the United States as a guest artist at jazz festivals such as: Festival of the Sea in the Bahamas, the Heritage Festival in New Orleans, Louisiana, and McGill University Jazz Festival in Montreal, Canada. Forming a jazz quartet in high school, Tera was hired to play at countless wedding receptions, business parties, restaurants, and a variety of other special events.

Warren Jones has spent more than 25 years as a composer, clinician and teacher. He has performed and recorded with national and local musicians and entertainers in the Phoenix area since 1980.
A graduate of the Arizona State University School of Music in 1986, he has taught in high schools, community colleges and in the ASU Jazz Dept.
He appears with both local and national artists on more than 20 CDs and DVDs. Mr. Jones has composed over 30 pieces of music for various sized ensembles. His compositions have been performed in the southwest and western United States and can be heard on recordings released locally and internationally.
He was a founding member of the award winning Craig Render Quartet in the 1980s and has been mentioned in Downbeat magazine as a musician to be noticed in Arizona.
Jones has been and is a leader of several jazz ensembles, including the Trio 2000 and the Quartetto del Sol.

She is gifted, making compelling music in any style from traditional to modern and she is well loved by the many musicians that call her a friend.
Janice earned a degree with distinction at the music school of Indiana University and has made her living playing piano ever since. She has performed in many Jazz festivals in both the USA and Europe. After one of her festival performances, NY Times Jazz Critic, John Wilson, hailed her playing as the highlight of the program. He wrote that her “explosive … piano playing carries the aura and variety of a big band.”

Not long ago the songs on this CD were merely mute markings on a score sheet. Only when Lisa Hindmarsh graciously agreed to premiere them did they come alive. With the exception of "For You" none had been performed before. No one knows better than I how fortunate these songs are (and I am)that Lisa acquiesced. Those of you hearing her for the first time will concur with the many admirers already in her following that her talent, skill and interpretive genius are extraordinary. She is a musical alchemist whose rare ability and high standards transfom notes and syllables into golden strains of mesmerizing sound. Born in Buffalo, N.Y. to professional musicians (her father was a jazz violinist, and her mother a jazz singer) one could say Stern's jazz indoctrination literally started in the womb. Perhaps in an attempt to get onto a professional path that varied from her parents, a teenaged and headstrong Stern embarked on a career as a professional ballet dancer, studying in NYC, at American Ballet Theater, The Joffrey Ballet, and Harkness Ballet. Realizing she could actually obtain this dream of becoming an underpaid, anorexic, corps de Ballet dancer made Stern rethink her career choice and look again at immersing herself in her original lifelong passion and companion...Jazz.
