Mark Kramer Trio - Mozart Jazz Symphony

The lifelong marriage between classical and jazz music is exemplified in this jazz version of Mozart's famous Symphony in G Minor on the Eroica label. It is one of a kind. Truly.

The Mark Kramer Jazz Trio
Mark Kramer - piano
Gary Mazzaroppi - bass
John Mosemann - drums

In the late 1970s jazz pianist Mark Kramer played tenor and soprano recorders in a recorder quartet with a group of friends which met weekly. As the skill of this amateurish group increased, so did their repertoire. The group often enjoyed playing arrangements of the Bach Brandenberg concerti, and available selections from some of Mozart's operas (e.g., the Magic Flute). At that time Mark analyzed and re-orchestrated an entire Mozart symphony (K.550, No. 40, G minor) for his quartet of recorder friends. The quartet eventually performed the work for its own amusement. When the recorder quartet disbanded a few years later, the score was stored in Mark's basement.

Mark Selby
Mark Otis Selby...And the Horse He Rode In On

“As a singer/songwriter, Mark Selby’s in the same league as Bruce Springsteen, with meaty words, a compelling voice, and tracks that have more groove than a vintage vinyl record.” ---AMERICAN SONGWRITER

Mark Selby is a musician who's had a lot of dreams come true. Growing up and learning to play the guitar in western Oklahoma -- one of the more rural and isolated spots in America -- he couldn't have imagined where his music would take him. "All I knew was that I'd fallen in love with the guitar, and that I liked making up songs and loved to dream about going places. So as I was finishing high school, I began to wonder, could I make this my job somehow? I didn't have any visions of glory or delusions of grandeur, I just wanted to be able to keep playing the guitar...and maybe see a little of the world!" Since those humble beginnings, Mark and his guitar -- and his songs -- have certainly seen a lot of the world. He's written #1 hits for multi-platinum recording artists (including the Dixie Chick's Grammy-winning "There's Your Trouble" and Kenny Wayne Shepherd's "Blue On Black", Billboard Magazine's Rock Track of the Year in 1998), released his own internationally-acclaimed albums, and toured over several continents fronting his own band and as an acoustic solo artist, often sharing the stage with musical heroes like B.B. King, Jeff Beck and Robert Cray. Now based in Nashville, Tennessee, he's also a valued session and touring guitarist, backing artists ranging from country superstar Kenny Rogers to rock/soul legend Jimmy Hall. And to top it all off, he's found true love and is married to his frequent musical collaborator, songwriter extraordinaire Tia Sillers. So, what now for a guy who's managed to live so many of his dreams? Time to spend some quality time with an old friend, as the man himself will tell you in the liner notes to his stellar new CD, Mark Otis Selby...And The Horse He Rode In On.

Bio...

Mark Stein was the lead vocalist, keyboardist of "Vanilla Fudge". Mark first founded the Vanilla Fudge in 1966 at the age of 18, with members Tim Bogert, Vinny Martell, and Carmine Appice. In the short time they were together the band enjoyed their first giant success with their first Atco release self titled "Vanilla Fudge".

This was a ground breaking album since it was the first album to reach top ten on Billboard's charts without a hit single. The legendary rock arrangement of "You Keep Me Hangin' On" became their first hit single some two years after the release of the first album.

During the late 60's the Fudge were one of rock's most exciting high energy touring bands, setting the stage for the likes of Jimmy Hendrix, Deep Purple, and even Led Zeppelin. These legendary rockers spread their musical and performing influences throughout the world, and it has been quoted in print by many of today's classic rock stars such as Led Zeppelin,Yes,Deep Purple, and others that Vanilla Fudge had a profound effect during the musical renaissance of the late 60's, that carried through to the present.
