Dawn Lambeth - Midnight Blue
Dawn Lambeth's singing not only brings to mind the great singers of the classic jazz era, it establishes her as a worthy heir to their legacy.
From the liner notes] As Confucius says, isn't it a pleasure to have an old friend visit from afar? Dawn Lambeth's singing on this recording not only brings to mind the great singers of the classic jazz era, it establishes her as a worthy heir to their legacy. In relation to her contemporaries, Dawn is an aberration, she remains true to the disciplines of melody, intonation and musical craftsmanship that were the standards of the era of Bing Crosby, Maxine Sullivan, Lee Wiley and so many others. To lovers of the music of the Swing Era, her singing is like a visit from an old friend, a happy reminder of a bygone era.

Contemporary folk singer-songwriter, rich, emotional, piano and vocal-based songs, with special guest contributions from Gordon Bok, and Matthew Heaton of 'Siucra.'
New England-based songwriter-singer-pianist Nadine Laughlin's debut CD 'Beautiful Mystery' contains 10 original songs ranging from solo piano and voice ('Beautiful Mystery' and 'Staying') to rich and haunting Irish-whistle filled pieces ('Pray for Grace' and 'Almost Gone') to strong band and thick harmony laden songs (like 'What If' and 'Broken Glass'). Jessica Lee Bluebird Fly
A soulful and sultry handling of blues, jazz and pop tunes.
In describing the theme of "Bluebird Fly", Jessica stated that she wanted to give voice to the up-lifting energy, power and messages that were the trademarks of early artists in gospel, blues, jazz and soul. Thus, the CD's title reflects the inspirational quality of blues-based music. In crafting this debut album, Jessica has worked with Grammy award-winning engineer Jay Dudt and his partner Hollis Greathouse. The musical selections on "Bluebird Fly" include both originals and standards and showcase the wide variety of Ms. Lee's musical interests and influences. Jay Dudt and Hollis Greathouse predict that these stylistic influences of gospel, blues, jazz and soul for "Bluebird Fly" will especially appeal to fans of such artists as Etta James, Roberta Flack, Peggy Lee, Eva Cassidy and Nancy Wilson. As Jay Dudt notes: "If you appreciate the heart of American music, you will treasure this CD. Jessica's stellar performance is enhanced by some of Pittsburgh's finest musicians. The result is a special listening experience."

Inga Swearingen Learning How To Fly
Few musicians can express a sweetness and honesty in every word that is sung. Inga's vocal improvisation scatting and stylistic breadth in the jazz tradition shine on her debut album, Learning How To Fly. Together with Trio 14 -- Mike Raynor, Ryan Garcia & Clint Iwanicha -- and Linda Vanasupa providing the subtle touches, Inga Swearingen embraces each song in a way all her own.
Inga has performed on NPR's A Prairie Home Companion several times since November 2003. Past shows can be heard via streaming audio on Prairie Home's website for July 2, 2005, December 18, July 3, May 29, May 15, 2004 and November 29, 2003. Lisa Hindmarsh Lost in a Summer Night
An elegant and warm collection of jazz vocals with a strong emphasis on the lyrics, featuring both well-known and little-known Great American Songbook standards.
Following the tremendous audience and critical acclaim for her debut solo recording, "Now I Know", Lisa Hindmarsh continues her exploration of lesser-known songs combined with well-loved Great American Songbook standards in "Lost in a Summer Night". Lisa is widely regarded as a peerless interpreter of lyrics and a singer who manages to be deeply emotional and moving, and yet very subtle.
No "jazz singer" mannerisms or affectations here, just pure honest emotion and flawless musicianship. Lisa's skill and artistry are an unbeatable combination, and she has surrounded herself on this recording with the some of the finest jazz musicians in the business. Together they make "Lost in a Summer Night" a must-have recording. Highly recommended!!!!!

TOrcH Sounds for Staying Home
Swing standards done the standard swing way: smoky, sexy vocals over sweet, simple arrangements with emphasis on the mood and feel of the song.
There is a reason people will always go on romanticizing about listening to "old jazz records." The sounds are tender and powerful and human and magic all at the same time. TorCH is jazz. Swing standards done the standard swing way: Smokey, sexy vocals over sweet, simple arrangements with emphasis on the mood and feel of the song. Jazz is good
Here's more if you're interested....This is by the producer, Brian Beattie:
One of the things I find most charming about mid to late 50's american jazz is the beautiful, almost magical confluence with the music and the recording technology. An upscale american jazz recording session in say, 1957, would really be a relatively simple affair. A few musicians, maybe a couple of german tube microphones and a couple of american ribbon mics, a tube mixing board and a tube reel to reel recorder, most likely an ampex. But when the musicians were hot, and the producers/engineers could keep up with them, the results were no less than staggering.
