Jackie Tice - Second Skin

Poetic, powerful folk-rock/jazz pop/AAA songs -- by Kerrville Award-winning Songwriter; Produced by 2005 Grammy-winning Native American artist, BILL MILLER.

IN APRIL 2006, JACKIE APPEARED AT THE UNITED NATIONS TO SING HER SONG "TRAIL OF TEARS" FOR THE UN TEACHER'S CONFERENCE ON HUMAN RIGHTS.

FOR YEARS JACKIE TICE HAS BEEN WRITING AND PERFORMING EARTHY, EDGY SONGS OF BLISS, CRUELTY AND FAITH. ON HER LACERATING, LUMINOUS NEW DISC, "SECOND SKIN," SHE EXPLORES GENOCIDE ("TRAIL OF TEARS"), OPEN-TUNED RELATIONSHIPS ("BORDERS") AND HER NATIVE-AMERICAN HERITAGE ("THUNDER MOON".) Geoff Gehman, Morning Call

"HERS IS A VOICE THAT NEEDS TO BE HEARD" Bill Miller

"I LOVE YOUR SONGS!" Lucinda Williams

"SECOND SKIN" crosses musical boundaries from folk, rock, jazz, through Native American traditions to explore the way borders "define and cage what we do." Though many opposites inhabit this record, they coexist beautifully. Ms. Tice herself embodies contradiction, at once a seeker, a warrior, and a homebody; an original who sounds at times like one iconic singer or another; an old soul and a child full of wonder; an angry rocker ("Trail of Tears" and "Medusa Jane") and a sweet-voiced poet; a hopeless romantic and a realist ("I will tell you that I love you / I will tell you how it feels / Should you turn away in laughter / I will wish you well and heal"). "Second Skin" begins and ends with prayer-like songs. The title track opens, a hooky invocation. (David Kleiner,

Shea Breaux Wells
Piece of the Light

Singer/songwriter whose rich vocals combine with complex songs that are threaded with jazz via piano, guitar, violin, trumpet and more...

Shea's relationship to music runs deep in her veins. For many years, she has been focused on jazz as a way to connect to the improvisational quality of collaboration. Recently, however, Shea has recorded an album of 10 original songs, with a few additional covers thrown into the mix. This music falls more into the singer/songwriter genre, but has a distinct flavor of jazz woven throughout. Working with musicians such as David Ewell on bass, Noam Lemish on piano, Alex Aspinall on drums, Bill Ortiz on trumpet, the legendary Robben Ford on guitar, and Gautam Tejas Ganeshan on violin, has added a layer of complexity and originality to Shea's music. From the sultry, "Soothe Me" to the upbeat, "Sands of Time", Shea's sound is distinctively her own. Shea's recent sold-out performance at the Healdsburg Jazz Festival has opened the eyes and ears of many appreciative new listeners. Festival Director, Jessica Felix recently said,
"I rarely hear vocalists of Shea's quality -- her heartfelt approach to the music is very natural ...I think Shea can be one of the jazz world's success stories in the next few years." -
Jessica Felix, Director, Healdsburg Jazz Festival.
For lovers of jazz, vocalists, singer/songwriters, and genres that include... well...depth "Piece of the Light" could be the new addition to your record collection that gets under your skin and becomes a part of you.

Dicky Greenwood
A Long Way

This cd combines deep, sultry, soulful vocals with the rockin blues licks that are the hallmark of Greenwood¹s unique and undeniable style.

Dicky Greenwood (1960, Den-Haag / NL) has been around for almost 30 years. Since the eighties, he and his band backed up great blues musicians like Byther Smith, Melvin Taylor, Smokey Smothers, Wild Child Butler, Doctor Ross, Walter Wolfman Washington, John Primer and toured with them all over Europe. Dicky has also been a member of the Mr.Boogie Woogie & the Firesweep Bluesband since 1996 and recorded 3 CDs with him.

"A Long Way" is Dicky's second album and it also features Harm van Sleen on bassguitar and Ron Flink on drums.
Additional musicians are Wouter Kiers on tenor and baritone saxophone, Ruud de Vries on tenor saxophone and Eric-Jan Overbeek a.k.a. Mr.Boogie Woogie on organ(!)and backing vocals.

He may be Dutch, but what you hear is nothing less than a Southern soul singer- and one who can play expressive blues guitar!! Stewart Faxon, Desert Bluesbeat, Tucson/AZ.

Mr.Boogie Woogie & the Firesweep Bluesband
Three Pound Fist

Hard driving Rhythm & Blues and killer boogie woogies by the fastest and flashiest piano-thumping boogie man from the Netherlands. The album title is more accurate than you can imagine.

Eric-Jan Overbeek (Mr.Boogie Woogie) had his first piano lessons at the age of eight and began his musical career playing piano in church. At fourteen, he heard Fats Domino play the Swanee River Hop and it became clear that he wanted to be a boogie-woogie man. Soon he discovered dutch boogie players like André Valkering and the legendary Rob Hoeke, who became a good friend untill he passed away in 1999. Of course he listened to Albert Ammons, Meade "Lux" Lewis and Pete Johnson (the three "kings of boogie-woogie") but being invited on stage by Hoeke and Valkering influenced his playing even more. Other influences include Dr.John, Ray Charles and unexpectedly guitarists B.B.King and the master of the Telecaster: Albert Collins. Eric-Jan has always been stunned by so much power in blues. Since 1990 he fronts his own band MR.BOOGIE WOOGIE & THE FIRESWEEP BLUESBAND, a rhythm and blues band with as "specialité de la maison": boogie-woogie!

Tony Valentino
People I Gottem Bad

Tony was a man who lived the blues every day, and this Cd is a fitting tribute to the man they called "The Godfather of the Blues" here in Detroit R.I.P.Tony Baby.

Tony has come out with a solid debut, recorded at Straight Ahead Studios, No Cover's home studio. A country-blues and Memphis style singer, Tony is backed by the top notch Detroit band, Motor City Josh & The Big 3.

JoAnn Korczynska of Big City Blues says, "Valentino's style is reminiscent of times long past and hard to resist. There is no one out there who sounds quite like Tony Valentino"

Blues Review says, "You'll swear Valentino and crew are right in your living room, the sound quality is that good" & "This disc is an offer you can't refuse."
