Hi Folks,
I have some serious news here for most of you.
For those that didn't understand the very low pricing of the LE
drivers, it
is because they are actually clearance items. They were to be our
introductory drivers, cheaper versions of our awesome regular stuff,
but
one thing leads to another, and well you all have heard most of the
story
already. Well here is the chapter that will now become public;
We are shutting the doors for good July 1st 2003 and will cease
operations. I have been sitting on the fence for most of the year to
be
honest, and recently was pushed over to one side, the side that says
its
time to move on to something else. I actually made the decision at
the
beginning of November, but could not make it public until -many-
phone
calls were made first. There are many factors coming into play for
this
decision, increasing costs, tough pricing demands, having to retool
with
new vendors too many times, raw materials always arriving late,
employee
issues, sudden sales drop last couple months when they are supposed
to be
going up for Christmas and CES, etc.
It has been both fun and stressful I will admit. I set out goals of
building the best speakers possible, and making a living doing it. I
just
haven't reached the second goal as yet, and it seems rather elusive
to be
honest given the current market conditions. Sales across the speaker
industry are very low compared to just last year. Some companies are
doing
better actually, but most are doing much worse. I am entertaining a
couple
offers for myself, the designs and whatnot, and also have a choice to
still
continue to build my "art deco" cabinets on the side,
basically do it out
of the garage whenever someone wants a pair (I would be keeping alot
of
woofers and all the tools and tooling when I leave). I don't know
what I
will choose, there are still many details to still work out,
including just
how much taste I will have for speaker building after July.
So now that you have picked your tongues back up here are some
details;
Doors close for good July 1st
We will stop taking orders somewhere May 1st ~ June 1st depending on
how
many orders are pending. I cannot build woofers after middle June as
the
shop will need to be vacated at the end of the month per our lease.
Whatever is left over is coming with me including all unsold parts,
tools,
tooling, etc. There will be no "auction" of any kind.
Clearance prices will not change, don't wait thinking you will get it
cheaper next spring. If you wait what you want might be gone for
good!
I have alot of parts for some drivers, and very few parts for other
drivers. I am very low on Dipoles, poly cones for 10" drivers,
and LE-TD
motors. First -pay- first serve.
When these are gone they are gone for good. I will not be getting
back
into this driver supply market at any time, nor are any of the (few)
companies that have expressed interest in acquiring our technology
for
themselves.
If I continue to build cabinets on the side, I.E. I don't sell the
technology to someone else, I will not sell raw drivers under any
circumstances, so don't ask! If I decide to build cabinets in the
future,
it will not be under Lambda Acoustics Inc.
Lambda Acoustics Inc. will cease to exist July 2003, all warranties
will
cease at that date.
Clearance prices on drivers include a different warranty from what
was
offered at full pricing, please see our warranty page for details.
I will be out of town from a few days before Christmas through to
early to
mid Janurary, so don't email during that time if you expect a
response!
I will have the phone forwarded to my cell phone, so you can call
during
those dates however. Just please don't call before 9AM or after 6PM
central time unless an emergency, there is nothing I could do anyway
other
than take an order.

drivers are
discounted.
Please think of it as an Irish wake, I am in a better mood than I
have been
in a looooooong time! I will actually be wearing a smile as I watch
the
shelves empty over the next few months ;-)
Its been fun working with most of you, some when you call, some when
you
hang up (just a joke!) But seriously folks, I am outta here, check
the
site, figure out if you want anything, and if so give me a call. I
will be
here for another 6 months or so, after that.........................
