The Long Goodbye

The Long Goodbye"

"A gorgeous song cycle of true love in decline, the latest from the alt-country darling Susannah Weaver is a gem. Written with unflinching honesty and admirable simplicity...it's further argument that wider recognition for this artist is inevitable."
Marty Hughley ~ The Oregonian ~ January, 2003

Jennifer Lauren
Passing Perceptions

An orignal acoustic roots album perfect for kickin' back on a Sunday afternoon.

Arriving almost simultaneously with the release of the newest album "It's Time" from crooner Michael Buble, is the 10-song, self produced CD "Passing Perceptions" from his one-time keyboardist and co-writer Jennifer Lauren. Presenting a fresh new sound in acoustic roots music, the Vancouver-born songwriter released her debut album to a sold-out concert on January 28th, 2005. Says Buble of Jennifer's music, "it's as if you took Norah Jones, Sarah McLachlan, Joni Mitchell and Jann Arden and shook it all up." The Vancouver-born Lauren earned her Performance Degree in classical piano as a teenager and later mastered bass, and bluegrass fiddle in addition to finding her voice as a singer and songwriter. From 1997 to 2000, she worked with rising star Buble and among other highlights, appeared on Vicki Gabereau's TV show and performed at an after party for the Three Tenors. In the years since parting company with Buble, she has toured Taiwan as part of a Top 40 show band and has recently discovered a passion for writing and performing on acoustic guitar. "Passing Perceptions" consists entirely of self-penned tunes with varied textures of musical support including stand-up bass, drums, harmonica, dobro, banjo and mandolin.

Melissa Ferrick
The Other Side

Indy Folk Rock: "Ferrick is a high-energy belter who has stunning vocal finesse and an ability to play syntax like Armatrading and Van Morrison." Steve Morse, Boston Globe

Put her on a stage, and watch how within minutes Melissa Ferrick earns a fresh new batch of hardcore fans. She does it simply by being herself: fierce & funny, outspoken & vulnerable, passionate & playful. Above all, Ferrick's keenly aware that a truly memorable concert will contain as many shifts of energy and spur-of-the-moment surprises as life itself.

And now Ferrick gives us The Other Side, an album packed with all the intensity and subtlety of her live shows. This entirely solo project was created in her home studio, with Melissa playing all the instruments (save for a single cameo guitar appearance by Teddy Goldstein) - and recording, producing and engineering the album all alone. "The Other Side marks the first time I've made a record by myself," she notes. "I just put down what I heard in my head, in real time. I love being in my own element like that."
