Kurt Kleinhans
Submergency

12 Original Classical guitar compositions by an artist who claims a wide variety of musical influences.

NOTES
Kurt Kleinhans, like most, picked up the guitar to play his favorite songs by artists like Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne, Aerosmith, Led Zepplin, Metallica and others. He became inspired mostly by the rock/classical style of Ozzy guitarist Randy Rhoads. Kurt soon began writing songs and began to search for broader musical experiences.

That search led him to the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music. He began to study Jazz, Classical, and Blues, and eventually went on to earn a Bachelors degree in Classical guitar performance, through a joint program with the University of Wisconsin and the Conservatory. Although he began playing rock, classical guitar became his prniciple style. Kurt began to compose and perform classical pieces as well as rock songs. It started with a guitar and a 4 track recorder and has led to Submergency the new acoustic cd containing 12 original pieces.

Duarte
Leyenda

blend of Spanish, Brazilian and Classical guitar work with a light jazz touch. The setting is both solo performance as well as three of the Brazilian pieces played with a full rhythm section and percussion. The playing here is breathtakingly beautiful.

Duarte's musical style is firmly based in traditional Latin music, while referencing elements of funk and jazz fusion.

His playing remains beautiful and communicative throughout, reflecting a true sense of the gypsy spirit. In his solo acoustic playing, as well as in his searing electric solos, he plays with a passion that equally captivates the listener.

The youngest of seven children, Duarte was exposed to a broad range of musical styles, including rock, folk, and big band jazz. In grade school, his Spanish teacher would often stay after class, playing and singing Flamenco music, and accompanying herself on the guitar. This was a major influence in his development
