Sonya Heller - Fourth Floor

Contemporary "city" folk with a Pop soul.Inviting trance like vocals over guitar, percussion, keyboard, and brasswinds.

Sonya Hellers music draws from life on NYC streets and a hip soul. Her superb vocals, beautifully penned lyrics, and unique brand of fingerpicking and rhythm guitar had Maggie Cutler for Newsweek Int'l saying... "Her music just slips right in and pours itself a glass of Merlot. "

Sonya Heller is an internationally published Pop/Folk singer-songwriter, composer, member of ASCAP, performing member of Indiegrrl, featured Folk Alliance artist, and 2003 finalist at the KRCL Songwriters Competition in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Sonya Lorelle
The Life you Wanted

Sophisticated piano driven tunes with blues and jazz flavors

Awards

2nd Place Enormous Records Songwriting Contest 1999
Honor Award 2002 Great American Songwriting Competition
Finalist 2005 Plowshares Songwriting Contest
Honorable Mention 2005 songprize.com International Songwriting Contest

Sonya Lorelle's title track on her first album was coined by a stranger at a gas station who noticed her filling up her truck with a U-Haul attached. After she confirmed that she was indeed moving "by herself," he said in an impressed tone, "oh?! An 'Independent Woman'!" She soulfully delivers this debut collection of bluesy songs in an acoustic project that is raw and organic with just her golden voice and piano to back it up. Lorelle soon decided to take her style, described to be an upbeat version of Norah Jones and Carol King, on the road. She gave up her career as a counselor and lease on her apartment, priced her belongings, and began touring nationally and abroad.

Julia Biel
Not Alone

Since the release of her self-produced debut album Not Alone in 2005, award-winning soul-folk-jazz singer/ songwriter JULIA BIEL has been stealthily woo-ing audiences across the UK with her charismatic combination of caramel-dipped yet unvarnished husky tones, highly distinctive songs and girlish charms. Critics have been left digging deep for comparisons for her truly individual and instantly beguiling artistry - 'Billie Holiday meets Bjork' (JAZZWISE) or 'Norah-meets-Bjork-meets-Thom Yorke' (THE OBSERVER), with everyone from Tom Waits to Alison Goldfrapp also getting a mention in the quest to pin her style down.

Judith Owen
Emotions On A Postcard

She is one of the great talents of her generation, blessed with an expressive and distinctive voice, a fine talent for writing and a masterful style of piano accompaniment. Through it all, Judith's irrepressible personality shines through - it is this, combined with her musical intelligence, that makes her unique in a crowded profession." - Richard Thompson

"Judith Owen - as brutal as Brahms, delicate as Delius, a total refreshment to the high art of Song crafting. Dazzling, stark, light and dark, a totally significant other." - Van Dyke Parks

In 1996, Judith Owen released her first album, "Emotions On A Postcard." Soulful and contemplative, "Emotions" had immediate resonance with all who heard it. For those who have discovered Judith through her 2003 work, "12 Arrows," "Emotions" will be a satisfying early work and a welcome addition to the collection.
