Barbara Paris - Paris Blues

Music to soothe the soul. Barbara Paris can take you on a vacation to Brazil Paris or to an intimate jazz club. Swing ballads and blues that make you want to sway and swing.

Barbara Paris is an excellent jazz vocalist able to make even war-horses sound fresh through her enthusiasm and subtle creativity.
She grew up in a musical family and as a child played violin, piano and then guitar. Barbara gained early experience as a folk singer while a teenager, but soon discovered jazz. However, music was put on the side for a time, as she worked as a hairdresser. The singer dated her first real jazz performance as having taken place on April 3, l989. Barbara was encouraged by Eddie Shu, a tenor saxophonist formerly with the Gene Krupa, and Claude Tissendier, a saxophonist with Claude Bolling's Orchestra. She worked in Europe with Tissendier and for five years off and on with pianist Joe Bonner in Colorado.
Barbara Paris has recorded several fine CD's for her Perea label and is a welcome fixture in the Colorado jazz scene, occasionally singing on both the East and West Coasts and in Europe.

The Sheryl Bailey 3
Live @ the Fat Cat

Jazz Guitar, Contemporary Jazz, Straight-ahead Jazz, Bebo

The newest chapter from NYC Jazz Guitarist, Sheryl Bailey. This CD was recorded live on November 18-19, 2005 at one of NYC's most respected jazz havens. In front of a full house of enthusiastic SB3 fans, this well-oiled jazz machine documented what this band is all about: PASSION, POWER, AND GRACE!

There are a few favorites from past releases. A ripping version of "Starbrite" (The Power of 3!) and 2 of the bands most requested tunes: "Elvin People" and "Swamp Thang" (Bull's Eye!). Plus tributes to Cedar Walton, John Abercrombie and Klezmer clarinetist, David Krakauer.

Featuring organist Gary Versace and Ian Froman - a band that has been recording and performing together since 2001, and finally the dynamics and intensity of their live shows has been captured.

Will Holshouser Trio
Singing to a Bee

This trio of accordion, trumpet and bass covers a wide range from romantic to edgy; Holshouser's original tunes draw on jazz, folk, and experimental music.

Accordionist Will Holshouser makes a convincing bid for recognition . . . enduring compositions . . . dynamic interplay . . . the compositional and instrumental diversity makes for a remarkably broad palette." -- Signal to Noise

"Will Holshouser is the secret weapon in several of the scene's most inventive and engaging bands." -- Time Out New York

"Will Holshouser plays as much accordion as there is to be played." -- Village Voice

Will Holshouser's unusual chamber-jazz trio covers a broad scope, drawing its warmth from accordion folk styles, its energy and swing from jazz, and its quiet surprise from experimental music. As a composer, Holshouser's allegiance is to strong melodic material. The trio features the scintillating improvisers Ron Horton on trumpet and David Phillips on bass.

This CD was recorded live in Faro, Portugal during the Jazz No Inverno Festival in December 2004. The venue was the small, 19th-century Teatro Lethes -- the painting on the CD's cover is from its wooden ceiling (with the addition of a few bees). The trio played without amplification in this beautiful hall designed for acoustic music.

Ricky Paquette
Early for the Show

Electric Rockin' Blues

NOTES
Ricky was born on November 7, 1990 in Gatineau, Quebec, Canada. At the age of nine he picked up his first guitar and within a year displayed a unique ability to learn at an unprecedented pace.

By the age of twelve his rare talent was winning local music contests.

At the age of thirteen he was sitting in at local venues with established blues veterans. It was during this period that his exceptional voice emerged complementing his diverse guitar techniques.

By fourteen he embarked on his solo career, debuting at the Tremblant International Blues Festival.

His debut CD, “Early For The Show”, was completed at the age of fourteen just before his recent fifteenth birthday.

Ricky continues his classical music studies which he has fused with the blues and a youthful rock edge to create an energetic sound that is both refreshing and traditional. He is a disciplined student of his art with the skill and talent of an industry veteran.

The term Prodigy may fade with maturity, but Ricky’s true love of the blues is what makes this young artist a rare inspiration.
