Ward Jene Stroud You Got To Dance With The Ones That Brung Ya!
Red Hot Blues with a variety of influences... Both old and new.
Ward Jene Stroud
Ward Stroud grew up a "Southeast Portland" boy. His Mom started teaching him his first chords on the guitar as soon as his fingers could strech around the neck and touch. His earliest memories are of his family sitting around singing, dancin, and jammin on the porch. It wasn't until he was nearly an adult that he discovered his "Native" heritage (Yaqui mexican/indian) through the gift of a flute, that he began a musical/personal journey that literally led him around the world! Ward has performed for audiences of all colors, ages, and sizes! He has soundtrack, theatre, multimedia, film credits, and has multiple recordings selling internationally! For nearly two decades he has taught/crafted/promoted the music he so dearly loves...
Now What...?
You Got To Dance With The Ones That Brung Ya! "Stumptown" Blues!
Now Ward's come back to Stumptown, and with the help of his Blazing Hot Band "The Ward Stroud Band" (nominated for Muddy Award "Best New Act" and, participants in the 2005 Waterfront Blues Festival), Ward has fused musical components of past, present, and future, into the experience of "You Got To Dance With The Ones That Brung Ya!" his newest album, finally bringing his "Two Worlds" together in a musical tour de force that will have you "Soaring like a Hawk", while "gettin down" at the same time!

Larry Thurston School For Fools, Songs By Jeff Alexander
12 original blues. Former Blues Brother frontman Larry Thurston, Rock & Roll Hall of Famers Levon Helm (the Band, drums) & Johnnie Johnson (Chuck Berry, piano),& veterans of the Albert King & Stevie Ray Vaughan bands. Musically & lyrically a must have.
Living Blues Magazine Review!!! Sept/Oct2003, by Andria Lisle: "School For Fools is a unique collaboration between a handful of talents, including songwriter Jeff Alexander and vocalist Larry Thurston. The sessions, recorded in St. Louis, feature a veritable blues who's-who of the Show-Me State. Legendary pianist Johnnie Johnson sits in on a couple of songs (the cautionary blues Warning Shot and the rockin' Happy Hour), while Tom Maloney and Rich McDonough handle the guitar duties on the majority of these 12 tracks. Arkansas Barnburner and former Band drummer Levon Helm provides the steady back beat, along with bassist Gus Thornton (alumnus of Albert King and Stevie Ray Vaughan's bands), while such special guests as guitarist Arthur Nielson and pianist Dona Oxford (both of Shemekia Copeland's band) add some spice to this musical recipe.
