The FKW Project - Cosmic Relief

Rock with the FKW Project as they defy the conventional organ trio sound with original tunes and jazz classics made famous by Thelonious Monk and Ahmed Jamal.

Russ Kershchner (www.russkerschner.com) is a jazz pianist, organist, and composer, as well as a software engineer. He started performing professionally at the age of 16 while studying jazz piano with locally renowned Mark Sloniker of Fort Collins, CO. Russ then moved east to study at Rutgers University. Russ learned from musicians such as Kenny Barron, Stanley Cowell, Akira Tana, and Ralph Bowen. He also gained much experience performing in the area, notably a regular stint at Birdland as well as performing in concert with Tom Harrell. Transferring back to Fort Collins, Colorado in 2000, Russ was in demand as a soloist, bandleader, and accompanist in Fort Collins. During that time, he began performing on the B-3 organ as well, and led "The Fourt Kerschner Waters Project," a group experimenting in various musical alchemies within the format of the classic organ trio. In 2005, he relocated to Durham, NC with his wife and three cats, and he continues his work as a musician/engineer.

Energetic smooth jazz with infectious grooves and killer hooks. Modern jazz with a lush mix of keys, percussion and rich guitars.

Inner City is the latest release from guitarist Matt Raines. Many of you may know him from his many years as a veteran of the East Coast jazz scene. Others may remember him from various rock and fusion bands. If you have not heard |Matt Raines play the guitar, you should do yourself a favor and buy this CD. This recording showcases Matt's composition, lyrical playing and excellent sense of feel and dynamics-and did I mention possibly the most flawless technique you may have ever heard? Although Inner City can be catregorized as "smooth jazz", these songs are deep and interesting with incredible performances from Matt as well as saxophone player Dave Guidi. This cd is an absolute must have for anyone who loves jazz, guitar or just great grooving music. Inner City will not leave your cd player.

Jazz in Blume
What A Wonderful World

This premiere 5 piece jazz band plays your favorite music and vocal standards from the classic jazz/swing era with a few contemporary favorites thrown in.

“Born of a jazz jam in Port Angeles, Washington, this quintet melded together and grew in intensity and performance from their various roots of pageantry, rock and roll, country, blues and swing to become this vibrant, alive and just plain fun Jazz in Blume”. -John Nelson, The Peninsula Daily News

Jazz in Blume is the premiere jazz band on the North Olympic Peninsula playing your favorites from the classic jazz/swing era. Vocalist Tracy Blume heads this stellar line up of musicians. Joining her are Ed Donohue/trumpet, Jim Rosand on piano/bass, Ray Wood/guitar and rounding out the fab five is Tom Svornich on drums.

Formed in 2004, this quintet of diverse and talented musicians has kept jazz alive and well in an area where country and bluegrass reign supreme. The release of “What a Wonderful World” in May of 2006 marks the first CD for award winning Jazz in Blume. This new CD is being met with rave reviews by young and old alike. With the delightful mix of familiar tunes there is a little something for everyone.

Stanton Moore
All Kooked Out!

We say: Serious New Orleans funk with jazz chops and a superbad attitude from one of the Crescent City's top drummers. THEY SAY: "astounding... the whole is greater than the sum of its parts" (An Honest Tune)

DEBUT ALBUM FROM GALACTIC DRUMMER STANTON MOORE

Serious New Orleans funk with jazz chops and a superbad attitude! Stanton Moore is best known as the drummer for Galactic, whose debut album Coolin' Off also saw its initial release on the Fog City label. (Note that Galactic and the Coolin' Off album have graduated to major label status, but Fog City Records remains independent in the best sense of the word).

On his first solo project, Stanton is joined by special guests Charlie Hunter (Blue Note eight string guitarist), Skerik (tenor and baritone saxologist for Critters Buggin', Les Claypool's Frog Brigade, Tuatara, Skerik's Syncopated Taint Septet, etc), and a cast of New Orleans funk/jazz heavyweights including Michael Ray (Sun Ra trumpeter), Ben Ellman (Galactic and the New Orleans Klezmer Allstars), Matt Perrine (on tuba) and others. Now a classic Fog City release, All Kooked Out is still one of our most popular items, and a launchpad for an incredible artist's career.

These recordings were made completely live in the studio (with no overdubs, no headphones and definitely no samples), in New Orleans right after Mardi Gras (see Stanton's quote below to get an idea of what that means to a New Orleans musician...) The atmosphere that resulted (augmented with liberal portions of Stanton's mom's southern cookin') is clearly audible on the thirteen tracks included here - all kooked out indeed!
