the bennett cale project
Goodbye Kirkwood Drive

This new vintage California soul band captures a sound that will transport you back to the start of southern California acoustic rock in the tradition of great albums from the late 60s and early 70s. Crosby Stills & Nash meets James Taylor

Last February, singer/songwriter Bennett Cale took the chance of a lifetime. He dumped everything -- his house, his job and his worldly possessions -- to pursue his music. The result is "Goodbye Kirkwood Drive." The album is a perfect musical representation of his metamorphosis from heartbreak to redemption. It unfolds like a novel you cuddle up to read and don't put down until the last page is turned.

Midway through his twenties, Cale owned a cottage in the famed Laurel Canyon section of the Hollywood Hills, had a successful business of his own, a television star for a wife and was a regular player in the Los Angeles music scene. But suddenly his life was turned upside down and he found himself picking up the pieces from a broken marriage. He quit the company and poured his soul into his music. In order to finance a new recording, Cale bet the farm and put his house up for sale. The bennett cale project had begun.

Cale enlisted the talents of producer and engineer Chris Fuhrman (Pat Benatar, Innocence Mission) to transform his house into a full recording studio. He brought together some of his friends and LA's top musicians to simultaneously write and record a live album in the same neighborhood that had given birth to the Eagles, Jackson Browne and Crosby, Stills and Nash. Writing by day and recording by night, the group was inspired by the musical legacy of Laurel Canyon's past -- giving way to a new sound that is now being called "vintage California soul."

Jason Cale
Always

A very eclectic album with a mix of good rock tunes, folk rock, and a little jazz fusion.

I have been on a lifelong spiritual, musical journey constantly seeking out as much musical knowledge and wisdom from books, friends, and mentors as possible. To be a successful musician in this world, you’ve got to live it. It’s not about the money or fame, it’s knowing that you’ve done everything in your power to play with people better than yourself and challenge yourself musically every day. Knowing music is one thing, but playing with passion, feeling, and from the heart is everything. So, in the words of Frank Zappa, “just shut up and play”.
"Always" is my first solo project I've done and I hope you enjoy it, there will be more to come.

Ray Bonneville
Gust of Wind

American roots music that's aimed at your belt area. Bluesy but not traditional blues. Winner of a Juno Award - (the Canadian equivalent of a Grammy.)

Ray Bonneville calls his music "a gumbo of American roots stylings."

His own style involves generating a tremendous amount of sound: laying down a surprisingly complex guitar groove, rock-solid footboard percussion, intricate but understated harmonica licks, and weathered vocals that are always cool but never aloof.

He often streamlines his touring act, accompanying himself on guitar, rack harmonica and footboard.

This same spare quality applies to the evocative songwriting that won Bonneville a 1999 Juno Award-the Canadian equivalent of a Grammy-for his third album, "Gust of Wind" (Stony Plain/Warner).

"Trimming down and taking away leaves room for the silence between the sounds," says Bonneville. "It allows listeners to put their own lives into the song. There can be more to a song than lyrics and notes... dust, heat, wind."

Hailing from Houston, Texas, the Moe Hansum Band performs Americana music with a strong emphasis in traditional acoustic blues. This Texas-bred music is a blend of folk blues with a splash of the soul and rhythm of the Mississippi delta blues

Hailing from Houston, Texas, the Moe Hansum Band performs Americana music with a strong emphasis in traditional acoustic blues.
