Philipp Fankhauser - Watching From The Safe Side

Fankhauser sings with a voice that ranks among the best in all of Europe. Blues Box Magazine Germany

in 2004, and well into the 20th year of Philipp Fankhauser’s career, the renowned US-Label „Memphis International Records“ releases Fankhausers’ ninth album „Talk To Me“ worldwide. In the same year – and, as the first European artist ever - Philipp Fankhauser performs live at the Chicago Blues Festival, introduced by the daughter of the late great Johnny Clyde Copeland Shemekia Copeland, who also contributed the liner notes in „Talk To Me“. And to top it all off „Talk To Me“ was pre-selected for a Grammy® nomination for „Best Contemporary Blues Album 2004“.

Duke Tumatoe
Greatest Hits, Volume One

Original, electric, guitar driven Chicago style blues, done with a shot of whiskey and a sense of humor.

Dr. Duke Tumatoe
Want to have some fun? Check out Duke Tumatoe.
Duke has been leading his own band and performing steadily for 35 years. His hybrid of blues, elementary to funk, may tug your heartstrings, inflame your libido, make you laugh or move your feet, but it never hits a false note. After 35 years, 17 albums and over 6000 shows, the singer, songwriter, and guitarist's legendary crowd-slaying performances have more gut level honesty and genuine enthusiasm than ever before. Over the years, the native Chicagoan has shared the stage with such notable artists as Muddy Waters, B.B. King, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Bo Diddley, Dr. John, George Thorogood, Buddy Guy, Lonnie Mack, Sam Kinison, Johnny and Edgar Winter, Jeff Healey, Big Daddy Kinsey, John Fogerty, The Fabulous Thunderbirds and many more.

After leaving R.E.O. Speedwagon in 1969, he formed Duke Tumatoe and the All-Star Frogs. The band enjoyed great success and toured for 13 years and released 3 albums. In 1983, looking for a new sound, Duke formed the Power Trio.
Duke and the band are pushing harder all the time.

“If you’re uneasy about the future of the blues, you’ll find hope in Nick Moss.”
—Guitar One Magazine

Fans of Chicago Blues torchbearer Nick Moss will be thrilled with this long-awaited and eagerly-anticipated live release. The 76-minute set showcases Moss’ strengths as bandleader, musician, and songwriter, as he and his “top-shelf Flip Top combo” burn through their celebrated originals as well as some choice, time-tested (but not overdone) covers. It’s true ensemble playing at its finest. The evening is made extra special by the guest appearance of Moss’ friend and fellow musician Monster Mike Welch, who lends his own style of guitar virtuosity to three tracks.

Nick shares the story of how the recording came about in the CD’s liner notes:

Well, here it is, a “live” CD! Many fans have asked me to put one out over the last few years. Everything came together with the help of some blues fans from the East Coast: Bob McLaren and Roy Souza. They had seen my band on many occasions at different venues (Buddy Guy’s, the Chicago Blues Festival, and at the Handy Awards in Memphis, among others) and were a few of the many who had expressed their interest in a live CD.
