Ali Handal - Breathing Underwater
A collection of eloquently bittersweet songs laced with Ali's sensually breathy voice, haunting melodies, and lush acoustic guitars
With her newest CD, "Breathing Underwater," Ali Handal continues to explore themes of passion, sex, and the inner battle between fearless independence and the longing for companionship that defines both Ali Handal the person and Ali Handal the recording artist. This album is an acoustic-guitar driven collection of songs, sparsely arranged and produced by Ali and her co-producer Tim Bomba. Ali plays all of the guitars on the CD, and is accompanied by Wes Wehmiller on bass (of touring bands Duran Duran, Missing Persons, Lisa Loeb) & David Leach on percussion (of Ben Harper's Innocent Criminals).

Ruthie Foster Runaway Soul
Rip roaring Soul and blues vocals spilling over a folk goblet.
Ruthie Foster's songs are a remarkable hybrid of blues, gospel, roots and folk music rich with honest spirituality and emotion. Her simply amazing vocal abilities have critics comparing her to Ella Fitzgerald and Aretha Franklin. Ruthie's passionate songs and scintillating live performances attract both the young and old for an uplifting experience of dancing, listening, laughing and even some crying; especially when Ruthie rounds out the joyous occasion with her versions of show-stopping gospel standards.

Cameron McGill and What Army The Company of Great Thieves
On his third release, Cameron returns with a full band in tow, creating songs that are singable and, well, more fun...the speed to Street Ballads' valium if you will. The 60s weigh heavy on the army's melodies, and these songs are home to the beautifully
ABOUT THE AUTHOR-- Cameron McGill
Born in 1877 in Calw, on the edge of the Black Forest, Cameron McGill was brought up in a missionary household where it was assumed that he would study for the ministry. McGill's religious crisis (which is often recorded in his songs) led to his fleeing from the Maulbronn seminary in 1891, an unsuccessful cure by a well-known theologian and faith healer, and an attempted suicide. After being expelled from high school, he worked in bookshops for several years--a usual occupation for budding Chicago songwriters.
