It's Too Bad You're Leaving by Elodie - Imported from Sweden by Listening Post Music

This great debut album ”It’s Too Bad You’re Leaving” is from the swedish five piece act élodie.

The press describes the music as ”lovely, minimalist Nordic pop, not too far removed from similarly female-fronted Swedish combos like Club 8 and Darcy, with nifty touches of torchy jazz and loungy exotica and the occasional splash of casual dancefloor friendliness, like Waltz for Debbie or Permer”

The first single from the album ”Maps & Squares” has been played on Swedish National Radio.

Al Hughes - One - Imported from England by Listening-Post Music

Al Hughes is a 27 year old rising new talent from Birmingham. Currently touring around the UK promoting his debut CD release - ONE - , Al is not your standard singer-songwriter. Tinges of soul, rock, blues, jazz and latin music are all evident, and his strong, soulful voice truly impresses within his maturely written songs. Citing such influences as Prince, Tom Waits, Stevie Wonder and Paul Simon to name but a few, all these artists are hinted at in Al's music. He's not bad on the guitar either. Cross Hendrix with Joni with a pinch of Ben Harper and you're pretty much there.

His live performances are a mix of solo acoustic shows and his awesome 3 piece band. Guitar, voice, double bass and drums provide the perfect showcase for his songs, and is best described by Al as "the stripped-down-soul-sound".

Melissa Stylianou
bachelorette*

From the intimacy of "Jitterbug Waltz" to a provocative performance of Bjork's "Bachelorette", this eclectic mix of jazz standards and contemporary material pulsates with raw energy while maintaining the balance between subtlety and sinew

Melissa Stylianou appeared on the Toronto jazz scene eight years ago and quickly earned the esteem of the Canadian jazz community. In both 2002 and 2003, she was nominated Jazz Vocalist of the Year at the National Jazz Awards. She has headlined at major jazz festivals all over Ontario, at the Festival International de Jazz de Montreal, the Atlantic Jazz Festival in Halifax, Nova Scotia and The Brandon Jazz Festival in Manitoba. Melissa performs regularly at the country's best jazz clubs and has developed a loyal home-base audience, while her skills as a composer/lyricist have been receiving attention across Canada. In 2004, she was the recipient of a Toronto Arts Council Music Creators Grant and in 2005, Melissa was honoured to receive a Canada Council for the Arts Grant for Professional Musicians. With this grant, Melissa is currently living in New York studying composition, theory and vocal technique with Garry Dial, Theo Bleckmann and Tom Schilling.
