Preamp update Several new developments have taken place on the upcoming preamplifier, now scheduled for release in late November or December, 2002.
First, the name. Our original concept was to maintain the many-year lineage of the PS Audio preamplifier line and call it the 8.0. After much debate and persuasion from our team and a number of suggestions from customers as well, we changed the name to something that makes sense with the rest of our line (a novel concept ).
The new preamplifier will be called the PCA-2. This stands for Preamplifier Class A Two channel. The new name does a better job of describing the product than the proposed 8.0 name and maintains the new numbering scheme we are using with the amplifiers.
Actually, I kind of like it!
Secondly, we have come up with a few more ideas for cards that can be used in the optional card expansion slot. Originally slated for a phono preamplifier addition (which will happen), we have taken your feedback and plan to also offer a couple of more goodies: a high-end USB input card so you can use your computer as a music source and storage unit, and a high-end DAC. Stay tuned for more news as it develops. Photos should be up on the website within a day or two.
