Technical features
Exceptional invention of frontporting bass system construction in combination with tweeter giant chamber solution.
Frontporting – Avoiding of all doubts of customers and endconsumers regarding any porting on the rearside and its implications on questions like necessary distance near the wall and troubles in a bookshelf.
The unique construction works by a inner reflexpipe, approaching a wedge. The cutting-line of the wedge devides the airflow into 2 streams, which then flow in a specially designed and extensively optimized flare. The distance of wedge and flare is of critical importance. The results are a) maximum bass support by the porting system and b) the reduction of all porting-caused standing waves by – 12dB as the wedge effectively works as an obstacle for high frequencies (=noise), but as a support for low frequencies (=bass output as support for driver and bass impulses).
All parts of the whole construction are massive Aluminium, produced by expensive high pressure die-cast tools.
The wedge fulfills a very welcome function at the same time: Its high volume is used as a huge chamber for the tweeter. The specially designed tweeter for this construction profits from unconstrained air-decompression approaching conditions of free-field. In our development we came up with the best sounding solution of air-pass by complete opening not by central hole, but by an allaround circle slit. This results in optimal use of the chamber volume, whose volume by the way surpasses any conventional tweeter-construction. Thereby the tweeterdome operates unconstrained even into the lower midrange.
As always the best results were achieved by handcoated silk dome, and a specially developed ferrofluid damping in combination with a super-light voicecoil of 4 Ohms. Main result of development: extreme resolution of finest high frequency impulses while achieving perfect midrange warmth and clarity.
New development of a 6” bass/midrange driver with new VA proprietary mixture “X3P” of TPX and 3 polypropylene based synthetics, maximum inner damping.
Inverted rubber surround, breakthrough in no-loss damping.
Completely new crossover layout, with copperpaths in direction of electrons-flow.
New Gold- and Silver-terminal for lowest transition resistance.
New Cables: 2 drilled cables with maximum single-copperwires thickness.
New cabinet in bigger size than before: 174 x 361 x 265 mm (before 170 x 345 x 255 mm)
Cabinet with massive baffles, 45% thicker than previous model, for maximum rigidity.
Veneer-wrapping technology on Maple, Cherry and Rosewood.
Black available in true Piano lacquer, accommodating any living room.
Innovative new and unique grille: We invented a grille which for the first time does not influence the sound in an adverse way due to its built-in phase diffusor. In front and center of all drivers it acts as a dispersion for the sound waves, benefiting the soundstage, both in depth and stereo imaging. It can even be used as a possible tuning device for the dedicated highend fan fighting for the last percent of performance. Please note the extensive efforts for the tweeter on the milling on this phase diffusor.
The grille is full Aluminium.
Besides this new grille results in outstanding elegance and beauty on the appearance of the speaker.
