Ja, fast det är år 2003 och SACD börjar röra på sig rejält så finns det gott med liv i vinylen. Tänkte skriva lite om några stora projekt som är på väg nu.
Bob Dylan
Vi har ju redan Sundazed som gör ett otroligt bra arbete med att återsläppa Dylans äldre skivor i original mono ljudspår. Såklart på 180 grams vinyl och direkt från original mono masterbanden. Helt analogt rakt igenom och jag kan verkligen rekomendera dessa återsläpp. Hitills har man släppt:

Rolling Stones
ABKCO har graverat 11 st Rolling Stones vinyler från samma DSD master som SACD versionerna. Varför man gjort så kan man undra över. Jag hade föredragit att man tog från original analog masterbanden, men nu är det inte så. 180 grams vinyl och DMM vinyler blir det iaf. Kan kanske vara något att testa ändå?

AC/DC
Efter att deras äldre skivor remastrades nyligen på CD men gott resultat (för en gångs skull) så visade det sig att Young bröderna är vinylfreaks och därför kommer nu 15 st AC/DC skivor på vinyl också. Det trevliga för oss vinylsnubbar så KRÄVDE Young bröderna att det skulle vara helt analog släpp. Så George Marino fick plocka fram den analoga pre-head spelaren igen. Så dessa vinyler blir helt analoga rakt igenom! MUMMA!

Du som har koll på marknaden - vet du om boxen kommer att tas in till Sverige eller är det
utlandsköp som gäller? Tips på bra butiker i utlandet annars?

Robis, Jag vet inte. Ska maila hotstuff och se om dom tar in den. Annars så kanske vinylbutiken tar in den?? Annars får man utnyttja den bra dollarkursen och beställa från usa.  |

The Story...
This is one of the most exciting reissue series of the last several years. The
Mercury Living Presence label has been treasured by audiophiles since its
beginning. Originals are extremely rare and the prices are sky-high. Mint,
quiet originals are almost non-existent. Simply put, these things sound
absolutely awesome! The recording method was pure and simple. As the New York
Times once said, these recordings do sound as though you are in the "living
presence" of the performer. And now Speakers Corner has licensed the original
analog masters. Yeehaw!
So, how did Speakers Corner pull in such a coveted line of titles? Well, for
some perspective, let's look briefly at the history of Mercury Living Presence.
Beginning in 1954, Philips had an agreement with Columbia (CBS). Columbia
recordings were released in Europe by Philips, and Philips recordings were
released in the USA on the Epic label. When American trade regulations changed,
making it easier for foreign companies to be based in the U.S., Philips looked
for a company to get its feet on U.S. ground and bought Mercury in 1961.
Later, "Philips Phonographische Industrie" became Phonogram and bought, as
PolyGram, the Decca label in 1980. In 1999, PolyGram, along with all its
sub-labels, was sold to Universal. Universal decided to concentrate their
various classical labels. Thus, Westminster became part of Deutsche Grammophon,
and Philips merged with Decca. That is the reason that Decca now controls the
Mercury Living Presence repertoire that we're talking about here.
Speakers Corner, having reissued close to 100 Decca/London titles since 1993,
has an excellent relationship with Decca. Therefore, they won the incredible
opportunity to do this most-exciting Mercury Living Presence reissue series.
But Speakers Corner's relation to these legendary titles goes even a step
further. Many of the original master tapes are stored in Hannover Germany.
Speakers Corner's cutting engineer, Willem Makkee, has his cutting operation in
the same building as the Mercury Living Presence tape library. That gives him
direct access to the masters. For these reissues, Makkee used the magnetic
tapes mixed down to two-track by Robert Fine himself.
This is, without question, one of Speakers Corner's most important projects to
date. Look for six to eight of these MLPs over the next several years. In just
a month, you'll be enjoying the first series box set. What a Tenth Anniversary
celebration for Speakers Corner!

Vet att tråden är lite gammal, men tänkte höra mig för om AC/DC boxen går att beställa från sverige? Inget krav iofs, utomlands går också bra. Fast det är trevligt att vara säker på att slippa tull och moms.
Har precis köpt mig en begagnad Technics Mk-II i fint skick (fast dålig pickup), och det här verkade som ett bra sätt att inleda en vinylsamling  |

Jag är också intresserad av AC/DC-boxen...var hittar man den?
Vinylbutiken verkar ju ha dessa skivor separat, men inte boxen.
Finns det fler bolag som släpper gammal rock/blues/jazz/soul mm. på vinyl av bra kvalitet?
Brukar skivorna slinka igenom i tullen så man slipper moms/tullavgifter? |
